Buy a Safe began in 1991 as a lock and safe retail service. They launched their website in 2002. With over 30 years of experience, they offer a wide range of safes and locks for both personal and professional needs.

The website is very well-organized and informative. First off, we learned that there were many kinds of safes:

  • Biometric: requires a fingerprint
  • Can: camouflages what you hide your valuables in
  • Cash boxes: stores money
  • Drop: allows you to add items to your safe without opening it
  • Fire: protects your valuables from fire or water damage
  • Floor: stores larger items
  • Gun: protects loved ones from guns
  • Wall: installs directly into the wall

We also appreciated a shopping tool called, "The Safe Wizard". The page asks you, "What would you like to Protect?" Then, it lists several popular items people store in safes:

  • Jewelry
  • Money
  • Documents
  • Guns

If you are unsure what safe you need, simply click on the appropriate item icon and you will be redirected to a list of safes that best fit your needs. This helpful tool narrows down the selection process and saves time.

Our only issue with Buy A Safe is that we had a difficult time finding reviews. They have no testimonials on their page, and they are not registered with the Better Business Bureau. We did find two complaints stating poor customer service and failure to assist with a return. With such a long history and an organized website, one would think including testimonials would be a given. Overall, this site is efficient and direct

GunSafes is an online store specializing in home safes. They are a Shopper Approved website with a commitment to customer satisfaction. You can also read through several customer testimonials posted to the site.

Easy to navigate, the site is organized and informative. You can also refine your search by selecting the features you would like into your home safe. They offer a wide range of safes, including these popular brand names:

  • Browning Gun Safes
  • Rhino/Bighorn
  • Fort Knox
  • Winchester

One unique service they offer is "White Glove" in-home delivery. Customers who pay for this service can have a safe delivered and brought inside of their home. According to the site, this service provides the following options:

  • Platinum: Inside placement of the safe with 900 lb. limit
  • Gold: Inside placement on the ground level
  • Bronze: Delivery to the garage or dry area/curbside

This online store also offers many types of safes. Customers can find the following kinds of safes:

  • Gun
  • Fireproof
  • Biometric
  • Wall
  • Vehicle
  • Waterproof
  • Truck vaults

In many ways, this online store is a superstore for those seeking security for their valuables. Our biggest concern is regarding customer service. While the site provides testimonies, we found many reviews complaining about poor service. Many of these reviews focused on how long it took for them to receive their order. GunSafes is also not registered with the Better Business Bureau.

We did find a statement on the site promising to work with any customer if there were problems with an order. So, it seems they are addressing these issues and trying to resolve concerns.

Overall, we were very impressed with this site's thoroughness. If it weren't for the large number of complaints we found, GunSafes would have ranked higher and received a better review. However, no matter how nice a website might be, it's customer satisfaction that matters most.

Continued from above

There are a number of options to consider before purchasing a safe for your home. Some of these include:

  • Biometric: Do you want your safe lock to require a fingerprint?
  • Wall: Do you want your safe installed into a wall?
  • Diversion: Do you want to camouflage where you keep your valuables in what might appear to be a book or soda can?
  • Floor: Do you have a larger item to store?
  • Gun: Do you have a firearm you want to store safely?
  • Fireproof/Waterproof: Do you have important documents like a birth certificate or marriage license you need to protect from damage?

Another feature to consider carefully is what kind of lock you want on your safe. Do you want to open your safe with a key? Would you prefer a biometric lock? Or perhaps you might like a keypad? How about a combination lock? Maybe you want an electronic lock? You have many options.

To assist you with this decision, TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed the best Home Safe companies available today. We hope that seeing the pros and cons of each company will help you choose what kind of safe will work best in your home!
