Home Security in Georgia

Georgia MapGeorgia residents can do a number of things to increase their safety and home security. Many people overlook the fact that they leave windows open or unlocked, they have sliding glass doors that can be lifted off their tracks even when locked, they have cheap, light-duty locks and latch plates on their entry doors.

Because would-be burglars do not want to be seen entering or leaving a home, installing bright exterior lights and keeping bushes and other landscaping trimmed back can discourage potential criminals from choosing a Georgia home as a target for crime.

Even using an affordable home safe can give people a place to protect both valuables and information, keeping social security numbers, birth certificates, family heirlooms, and antique jewelry away from prying eyes.

However, even with these safeguards in place, Georgia residents have a 1 in 30 chance of experiencing some form of property crime. In a typical year, more than 80,000 Georgians fall victim to burglary alone. Home security systems offer both homeowners and renters protection from this invasion of their homes and lives.

The most popular home security systems in Georgia have packages that include affordable around-the-clock monitoring and use the most current technologies available on the market. Wireless home security systems are particularly attractive to renters, as there may be no security system already in place at the property. These systems allow renters to have such protection without needing the input (or permission) of a landlord.

Furthermore, remote technology usage is growing in Georgia as home security system owners have welcomed the capability of checking on their residences, setting alarms, changing thermostat settings, and even locking doors while they are away. As Georgia residents work, attend school, or travel, they can do so knowing that they can see in real-time that their homes and belongings are secure.
