Home Security in Massachusetts

Massachusetts MapIncluding an estimated 30,000 burglaries per year, Massachusetts experiences a significant amount of property crime, with the chances of an average person becoming a victim of such crime at 1 in 49. Many residents are actively seeking ways to reduce their likelihood of becoming a statistic.

Home security companies work closely with their Massachusetts clients to protect them from burglary and home invasion. A good home security system will include 24-hour monitoring of all alarm components, door and window sensors, motion detectors, and glass break sensors. Today's technology also permits users to control their systems remotely; smartphones, laptops, and tablets can be used to check on the security of the home, lock and unlock doors, open garage doors, and even view a live video feed from cameras on the premises. This feature is particularly of interest to Massachusetts residents who travel for business or pleasure, giving them peace of mind whether they are logging in from Boston or the Bosporus.

Renters can also have the protection of a home security system even if it is not provided by their landlords: wireless systems allow for easy installation and use, without needing to be installed as a permanent fixture within the rental property.

Many home security companies offer their clients other suggestions for increasing the protection of their homes in addition to installation of electronic systems. For example, when going on vacation, it is wise for homeowners to turn down the ringer volume on phones in the home; would-be burglars can determine that a house is unoccupied if the phone audibly rings regularly without being answered. Another tip is to make sure that snow is removed or the grass is cut, so as to not give the impression that no one is at home.

Massachusetts have a wide range of solutions at their disposal to feel more secure in their homes, especially with respect to home security systems and basic safety tips.
