Home Security in Nevada

Nevada MapHomeowners and renters in Nevada often wonder what they can do to improve their home security. As the property crime rate in the state continues to surge above the national median - Nevadans run a 1 in 35 risk of being the victim of burglary, motor vehicle theft, and other such crimes - many people are turning to home security companies to give them advice on how to protect their loved ones and property.

Most home security experts recommend that Nevada residents start with some simple, easy-to-implement changes to help deter any potential criminals from considering their homes as suitable targets for burglary or home invasion. First, the exterior of the house should have exterior lights that are very bright and triggered by motion detectors. Next, landscaping should not provide a hiding place for burglars, especially near windows and doors. Also, when a home will be unoccupied for longer periods of time (e.g. vacation), mail and newspapers should not be allowed to pile up, giving the clear signal that no one is home. Good neighbors can often help each other to take in mail and even park a car in the driveway to make the impression that someone is in residence.

An electronic home security system is a very thorough method of improving the protection of Nevada residences. While most systems will give clients 24-hour monitoring, remote-control technology is a feature offered in some packages and is becoming very popular. Customers can use any wireless device - iPad, smartphone, even a laptop - to arm and disarm the alarm, lock and unlock doors, or even set the thermostat to the desired temperature. For Nevadans who are away from home for extended periods of time for work or vacation, they can relax knowing that everything is as it should be at home.

Residents of Nevada can choose from a number of reputable home security companies who can help them choose the system that best meets their needs, and at prices they can easily afford.
