Home Warranty in Illinois

Faulty breaker boxes, leaky pipes, an automatic dishwasher that stops washing. These are just a few of the residential challenges that Illinois homeowners will have during the next few months. The bill for them could be anywhere from $400 to $7,000, depending on the severity of the problem. With this risk in mind, many Illinois homeowners are protecting their investments by putting a home warranty policy in place.

Home warranties can save thousands of dollars for the homeowner over time. A good home warranty policy covers items such as plumbing systems, oven and dishwasher, home heating and electrical, and whirlpool tub. Homeowners can relax, knowing they are covered when expenses come up for repairs or maintenance on their home.

First-time homebuyers often benefit greatly from home warranties, since they are usually anxious about their major purchase. The knowledge that their home is protected gives them additional assurance. Individuals selling their homes will want to invest in a home warranty plan, as the added benefit of coverage may be what brings about a sale. And residents with a home ten years or older would be wise to check into getting a policy, as homes that age generally need maintenance and frequent repairs.

When researching home warranties, experts recommend three steps for finding the best plan. First, choose three or more companies with good reviews, and read the plans they offer. One plan may cover heating but not air conditioning. Understand what each plan provides. Second, the business may have limits in place on the amount they will pay for the repair. If so, double-check the limits to be sure they are reasonable. And third, determine items in the home that need extra coverage. If the backyard pool and the central vacuum system are to be worry-free, then the enhanced plan is probably the best option.

Many Illinois residents are already experiencing the freedom of knowing that when repairs or replacements are necessary, they are covered. Following these steps, anyone can find the home warranty plan that would best suit their needs.
