Home Warranty in Maryland

Many first time homeowners in Maryland are finding that home warranties save them thousands of dollars in repair and replacement costs over an extended period. For example, a problem with the central vacuum that could cost over $2,000 in labor and materials may cost them less than $300 if they have proper coverage. Or, instead of paying full price to fix the built-in microwave, they pay a small service fee and the rest of the cost is covered because of their annual premium. Having coverage on their home can be a very wise choice for Marylanders.

Protection through home warranties generally provides coverage in the event of repair or replacement of appliances such as the dishwasher, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and garbage disposal. Coverage is not limited to appliances only; many home systems are also included such as sump pump, heating, and electrical components. Any malfunction or replacement of home systems is taken care of by the company providing the policy. Some home warranty plans even provide provisions for pools, spas, and septic system.

Three things should be considered while researching home warranties to find the perfect plan. First, choose multiple home warranty companies and read up on the plans they offer. One policy may cover heating but not air conditioning, and another may include both. Be informed as to what is in each package. Second, check to see if the company places limits on the amount they will pay to repair each home system, and what the limits are. Third, be aware that items such as the central vacuum and garage door opener may require additional coverage. Many business offer basic plans to cover the most essential items, as well as enhanced plans for higher cost systems.

Adding a warranty to your home may be the smartest move you can make to protect your assets.
