ZipRecruiter has grown to be one of the largest job search engines in a matter of only 9 years. Over 10,000 new companies subscribe each month to post their job openings on this site. They cater to applicants actively seeking positions as well as recruiters scouting for their next hire.

Every online user can create a free, professional profile that allows you to apply for jobs, add a resume, update references, sign up for job alerts, etc. This profile allows you to quickly apply for any open positions on the site as well as be seen and contacted by recruiters. A messaging feature allows you to chat back and forth with employers right from the ZipRecruiter website. The system will also request specific salary information from a hiring manager if it's not already listed on the job posting. Once this information is received, it will be sent to you.

As job seekers scan through open positions, they are able to rate each one based on its relevance to them. This shows the system your job preferences, allowing the service to generate suggestions for you based on your rating system. You can search for unique keywords like "telecommute", "have no experience", "work virtually", "work from home", "freelance", "bilingual", etc. We found the search bar gave us helpful, relevant results based on even the most random keywords. The downside to all the generated information is that it is not the most aesthetically pleasing as far as formatting. Lots of scrolling is required and some job descriptions appear in large blocks of text that make it difficult to quickly pull out relevant details.

Overall, you don't have to take our word for how good of an experience you'll have with ZipRecruiter. The Better Business Bureau gives them an A+ as well as high marks received on other third-party review sites. You can also find a list of videos and testimonials on the ZipRecruiter website from users that landed work through this job search engine.

It does not cater to lower-level jobs and workers, so that automatically narrows down options. All positions listed pay around $100K (some a little less, some a lot more). Each job listing has an estimated salary range provided by Ladders in the description. However, there are mixed reviews about the accuracy of their information.

You can narrow down positions in a certain state, then choose your role and specialty. When scrolling through job openings, some companies remain anonymous, but provide the city of operation. Others are more specific and give a comprehensive company background. All listings provide how many years of experience are needed to apply for the role. Some allow less than 5 years of experience, while others expect up to 15 years.

An account is needed to apply to any given position. There are options for a premium membership lasting 1 - 12 months. The cost ranges from $9.99/month to $29.99/month. Some advantages of paying for the premium membership are higher placements on recruiter lists, better job matching, and unlimited access to jobs that are not posted anywhere else. Paying for a membership and unlocking availability to all job postings signals to recruiters that candidates are serious about their job search. If you choose not to pay for the premium account, you can continue with the basic membership for free and gain limited access.
