Lamps not only bring greater illumination to an office, living room, or bedroom, but they can also be a unique piece in your modern-day decor. From small desk lamps ideal for college students to ornate floor lamps used to make a bold statement, thereís a wide variety to choose from when looking for that additional lighting in a room.

However, if youíre looking for something specific, stores specializing in lamps are not often found. Customers are usually limited to the lackluster options found at their local hardware store or big-box retailer. Fortunately, with just a click of a mouse, shoppers can find thousands of lamps online - from functional to fancy to fabulous.

Louie Lighting

LOUIE LIGHTING Visit Site

If you're looking for detail and innovation in your next lamp purchase, you'll want to check out Louie Lighting. Owner and Lighting Designer Arie Louie founded the store in 1993, which carries table and floor lamps from two dozen different manufacturers, including brands such as Artemide, Dimond, and Kenroy Home.

Although the online selection is already impressive, with over 1000 lamps from which to choose, you should contact the store directly if you are searching for a specific product or manufacturer. Because their selection is so broad, Louie Lighting doesn't display all of their available products on the website; we were impressed that they even offer to check their inventory or reach out to a manufacturer directly to try and fulfil their customers' wishes.

Customer service is easily available on weekdays during normal business hours (Arizona time zone) via email, live chat, and a toll-free number. The customer service representative with whom we spoke was very friendly and helpful.

Shipping is free on orders over $50 within the continental United States, which is relatively standard among online lamp retailers.

One benefit offered by Louie Lighting is the lack of a restocking fee on most returns on products selling for less than $2000. Some products do have a restocking fee that the manufacturer itself requires; those lamps will have this clearly explained in the product description.

Overall, Louie Lighting hopes that customers are delighted with their lamp purchase; but, if not, the return process is hassle-free, with a 30-day return period and 100% refund, minus the cost of shipping.

Louie Lighting maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, backed by numerous compliments on their website from happy customers. We think that you will similarly enjoy the experience shopping for your next lamp at Louie Lighting!

Wayfair

WAYFAIR Visit Site

Wayfair has grown to be a household name when it comes to home goods; promising shoppers an inventory of "a zillion things home", you can be assured that whether you're shopping for a new desk lamp for your home office, a floor lamp for a child's bedroom, or a table lamp for the living room, you're likely to find it there. Wayfair has more than 20,000 lamps to choose from, the largest selection of any retailer in our review.

Using Wayfair's website is easy. The main page for lamps allows you to shop by category or by style, and it includes several helpful links under "Ideas & Advice" to give you ideas for your decorating. Once you've chosen a lamp category, Wayfair's products can be further sorted by price, finish, style, and even the color of the shade.

Wayfair offers a number of perks designed to earn your business: free shopping advice from renovation experts at their toll-free number, two-day delivery on nearly a half-million items in stock, free shipping on orders over $49 and a flat fee of $4.99 on all other orders, 3% of your purchase price back in their automatic (and complimentary) rewards program, and a 30-day return policy through their self-service return center.

While we did find some customer complaints, that's unavoidable for any company with such a large customer base. They maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, which is indicative of their strong emphasis on customer service.

Wayfair gets high marks because of their incredible selection and low prices.

Online retailers of lamps often have prices that easily meet or beat what can be found in local brick-and-mortar stores, because they donít have the same overhead costs of most retail stores. Finding your next lamp online can save you time and money while bringing you the exact product you want, instead of settling for whatever may be available nearby.

What should you look for when buying lamps online? As you consider the various retailers on the market, keep the following in mind:

  • Selection. Does the store give you many different styles, brands, and price points to choose from?
  • Pricing. Is the retailer competitive with other stores? What is the typical cost of shipping?
  • Return Policy. If you need to return your lamp for some reason, will you be able to do so? Does the store charge a restocking fee?
  • Customer Service. How easily can you connect with a representative if you have questions before or after your order? Does the retailer have a good reputation for customer service with previous customers?
