People often believe that it is the dangers lurking outside our front doors that claim most children's lives. In reality, however, there is another danger lurking far closer than you might think. It isn't coming from outside - it's coming from within.
Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer among children and it is the villain we seek. But there is hope. Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation named for Braden Hofen, a courageous young warrior currently fighting relapsing neuroblastoma for which there is no known cure. His brave fight since 2007 is the inspiration behind our cause.
Braden's mom was fighting stage 2 breast cancer at the same time Braden has been fighting his relapse. Awareness of and treatment options for her cancer compared to Braden's were drastically different and this showed the family that a change had to be made for our children just as has been done for breast cancer. Our goal is to create awareness and increase funding for the research so desperately needed to find cures for childhood cancers. With Braden's Hope and a lot of help from our friends, we are striving for the day that no child or family will ever have to hear the words "no known cure" ever again. Every child battling against cancer deserves a chance to fight and win.
