Spinlife vs Medical Supply Depot

Best Mobility Scooter Stores

To help you find the Best Mobility Scooters, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of Spinlife and Medical Supply Depot.

Who has the best Mobility Scooters? For those with difficulties getting around at home or in public, mobility scooters are the most popular way of helping them stay active and engaged in life. From simplifying shopping trips to making it possible to get safely from one room to another, mobility scooters make it possible to stay independent even when users are managing difficult health conditions that affect their mobility.

When deciding which mobility scooter is right for you or for a loved one, the first consideration is what it will be used for. For example, the type of scooter you'd buy for someone who will use it primarily indoors is vastly different from what would be necessary for long trips outside. Another factor to consider is weight and portability: will you need to be able to lift it into a van or other vehicle for transport?

Spinlife

SPINLIFE Visit Site

Cost:

From $649 to $5,249

SpinLife is the nation's biggest mobility scooter store. With headquarters in Ohio, this BBB-accredited company currently has an "A+" rating

You'll find their website very simple to use, allowing you to shop by the type of scooter or wheelchair you want, or by well-known brands like Pride and Drive Medical. You can also sort your results by weight capacity or price range. We found their prices to be on par with competitor stores.

Making their scooters even more affordable is a 110% price match guarantee, should you happen to find a particular model at a lower price on a similar website. Plus, you'll get free shipping on every order of $50+, which definitely includes all of the mobility scooters sold by SpinLife.

This is one of the few retailers that doesn't charge a restocking fee on scooters - but be aware that if you should order a power wheelchair, those do have a 15% restocking charge. In all cases, you can return your power scooter in unused condition and in original packaging within 30 days of delivery for a full refund.

One of the best features of this retailer is SpinLife University. There you'll find extensive, helpful information about how to choose the right power chair or scooter, important differences between different models, and even interactive images to make it much easier to understand all of the products they sell. If you've still got questions, you'll be able to reach a SpinLife specialist through their toll-free number, online via live chat, or through email.

We really appreciate SpinLife's dedication to individuals with mobility challenges: students who use power or manual wheelchairs and are students of a 4-year university or college can apply for a $1,000 scholarship or a $500 gift card.

SpinLife dropped a half-star in our rankings since our last review. Why? We found a number of complaints that described difficulties in getting scooters serviced after purchase. In all other regards, this store's reputation is intact: an A+ with the Better Business Bureau, a customer-friendly website, and true dedication to people with mobility challenges. But, those customer comments had to be taken into account when determining where to place SpinLife among companies selling mobility scooters.

On the whole, though, SpinLife has an excellent variety of mobility scooters, customer-friendly returns and price matching policy, and a very useful website full of information to help even the most novice shopper. We recommend that you consider SpinLife when deciding which mobility scooter to buy.

Medical Supply Depot

MEDICAL SUPPLY DEPOT Visit Site

Cost:

From $795 to $7,376

Medical Supply Depot was created in Brooklyn in 2005 by a volunteer EMT who saw that many service calls would have been prevented if the patient had been given access to affordable medical supplies. The store offers free shipping on most orders over $75 and a lowest-price guarantee.

If you are willing to give Medical Supply Depot your email address, you can probably get a discount of 5% on your order - though the pop-up offer we got said that there were certain conditions that apply to that discount.

To start shopping for a mobility scooter, you'll need to select among their categories:

  • Travel/Portable
  • Indoor
  • Indoor/Outdoor
  • 3-Wheel
  • 4-Wheel
  • Heavy-Duty

Once you've clicked on a category, you can sort your results by brand, price, or subcategory. Medical Supply Depot carries approximately 30 different models of mobility scooters, from well-known brands like Drive Medical, Zipr, and Shoprider.

On each product's page, you'll find the typical details: features, specifications, and so on. If your scooter has any available options, such as color or seat width, you'll also see those on that page.

All of the scooters sold by Medical Supply Depot come with a 25% restocking fee, because you'll have to return them directly to the manufacturer. That probably means the same process applies if you need to make a warranty claim: in other words, there is no warranty offered specifically by this store, only what is offered by the brand. Because warranty issues are some of the most critical when making a major purchase, it would have been helpful to see links to the manufacturers' warranty policies in each mobility scooter's listing. Instead, only a few of the scooters included warranty details in the "Features" part of the product description.

This store has a good reputation. Medical Supply Depot had an "A+" rating as an accredited company with the BBB at the time of our review. We also found hundreds of positive reviews from customers - although it's worth pointing out that those reviews were generally from shoppers who used the retailer for much smaller items, such as incontinence pads or walking canes, not for mobility scooters.

Medical Supply Depot carries well-known brands of mobility scooters at prices that are comparable with other retailers, and their reputation is solid. We recommend that you consider them when making your decision about which scooter to buy.

And, of course, you'll need to keep in mind the needs of the person who will be using the mobility scooter; factors like size, ability to use one or both hands, and other personal characteristics can impact which scooters are a good match.

Because so many of the industry's top retailers of mobility scooters have online stores, you can easily find the right one without even leaving home. For people with challenges getting around, this is a huge plus. As you consider which store to use for your scooter investment, here are several factors to bear in mind:

  • Price. What will you spend to buy your scooter from this retailer? Will you pay for shipping/delivery? Are there any discounts available that can make your purchase more affordable?
  • Selection. How many scooters does the company carry? Are they all available, or are there models that are regularly out of stock? Do they have a variety of styles and features to choose from?
  • Policies. Does the retailer offer a satisfaction guarantee, return policy, or warranty coverage? If you get a warranty, will you have to bring the scooter to a repair facility for service, or can they send someone to you?
  • Reputation. What do customers have to say about their experience with the business? Is it rated and/or accredited by the BBB?
  • TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Mobility Scooter stores available today. We hope these reviews help you find the right mobility scooter to maintain your active, healthy lifestyle!
