Quicken Loans have been in business for over 25 years and currently has an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau. Their name is a good representation for the turnaround time it takes for their loans to close. Most loans close between 2-4 weeks, which is considerably quicker than the majority of lenders.

The website is well designed and easy to follow. You can start the loan inquiry process online for free, however an application fee exists if you decide to move forward with the loan presented by Quicken. This fee to is to cover the cost of pulling your credit score and managing the process.

  • Complete online request identifying mortgage goal, mortgage amount, home value, credit rating, contact information and more
  • A Home Loan Expert calls to verify your credit score and discuss your refinance goals
  • Get matched to a loan

Quicken Loans offers a full-service, well designed website that helps you learn more about mortgages, refinancing, credit scores, and much more. Quicken Loans also provides credit repair information, in case you want to raise your credit scores.

With a strong reputation, we know that Quicken Loans has a lot to offer. They have an excellent history, closing thousands of loans in the last 25 years, and have a great customer service team. We would have liked to have seen more information provided online before speaking with a loan representative, but that's just a minor quibble. THE EASY LOAN SITE

The Easy Loan Site is a no frills mortgage refinance site that focuses on connecting consumers with mortgage lenders based on each consumers situation. The Easy Loan Site has an A rating from the Better Business Bureau and is Norton secure certified, so we had a feeling of reliability from the start.

The website as we said is no frills, to a fault. There are no investment research tools, market analysis or any of the other helpful features we found on some other mortgage refinance sites. The main page simply states the company name, advertises the lowest rate available today, and tempts clients to "lock in now." There is a simple drop down menu box from which you select the type of loan you are looking for (new mortgage, refinance, or equity loan) and then continues to take you through a long list of questions designed to determine which lenders could provide the best deal based on the requirements of the client.

Inquiry Process:

  • Complete online application with type of loan, amount, credit rating estimate, location, and description of the property
  • See a list of 3-5 potential lenders and their rates, with contact information
  • Receive calls from potential lenders 24+ hours later

The process for filling out the online form is made very simple with the use of this drop down window. In less than a minute we were able to navigate through the various questions and get to a screen that showed us three competing lenders with rates that looked fairly competitive. We were also given notice at that point that we would be contacted by lenders within 24 hours.

Everything worked as it should, but the experience left us a little unimpressed because the site offered so little other than a basic loan search engine. With no research tools or any other information, The Easy Loan Site may be a fine place to look for a mortgage lender but a basic search engine is about all they offer.

RATE MARKETPLACE

Rate Marketplace is a California based company that started in 2013. They work to match refinance, car insurance, home mortgage seekers and more with actual lenders and insurance companies. They currently hold an A- Better Business Bureau rating.

We immediately noticed that the company is not very transparent in the lender networks they partner with. Much of the information we found about the company is related to finding more lenders, their primary source of income, rather than providing the who, when and where to the mortgage refinance customer.

The website is pretty basic and, despite some information about refinancing, including a handful of mortgage articles, we found almost no helpful information. The company asks that you dive into completing their quick online form to get started. They promise that up to 5 different lenders will contact you individually to discuss loan options.

Inquiry Process:

  • You complete online request with credit type, property type, home value, mortgage balances, income, contact details and more
  • A loan expert from a partner company calls to discuss loan options
  • You choose a loan from those described to you

We liked that Rate Marketplace doesn't require our social security number to send our information on to a lender but we couldn't help but wonder who was going to contact us and when. Outside of the anticipated phone calls, we also received a list of 6 mortgage lender websites to visit. We noticed that many of the companies listed were also referral sites and weren't sure why we had to go through the effort of completing a questionnaire if we weren't going to be directed to actual lenders. As with some other refinance lead generation companies we found that Rate Marketplace was ultimately a waste of time.

MORTGAGE SEARCH 123

Mortgage Search 123 is not your standard refinance website. They focus their effort on those individuals looking to refinance their home to avoid foreclosure. Mortgage Search 123 matches consumers with companies that may offer foreclosure prevention services. They clearly state the lender may not be willing to change the consumer's loan so we have to wonder if they are leading people in for debt management services instead.

The look and feel of Mortgage Search 123 is unprofessional and unimpressive. The website lacked information about the legitimacy of the company and the overall loan inquiry process.

Inquiry Process:

  • Complete online request with property location, home value, credit, contact information, status of house payments and credit card payments, total monthly debt payments and more.
  • A loan contact from any bank interested in working with you will call.
  • Choose a loan based on the conversations you've had with various banks.

Mortgage Search 123 lacked the necessary credentials and information we were looking for to become comfortable with providing them much information. We also didn't like that their only focus was refinancing to save from foreclosure. We recommend you choose a higher ranked mortgage refinance company to assist with any of your loan needs.

LOWER MY BILLS

Lower My Bills is a free online service that provides rate comparison information for home refinancing, home equity, debt consolidation and more. The thought is, if you can find a lower cost provider you can save money on your monthly bills.

The process of obtaining those promised free quotes was simple and included answering questions related to the type of home, your credit score range, the year of original purchase, home value, mortgage balance, 1st and 2nd mortgage information, purpose of refinance, employment status, address, phone number and a few other simple questions.

Inquiry Process:

  • Complete online request including property type, the type of loan, credit profile, purchase year, home value mortgage balances, current lender, rate info, age, address and more.
  • You're directed to some, none or up to 4 website links that take you to new companies that again require you complete the inquiry process.
  • Next step is dependant on new website you're directed to.

Once the questionnaire was completed we expected a list of rates to appear given the very detailed and personal information we had provided. However, we only received four links to different websites that wanted the same information completed. Some of those four links even provided erroneous results - furthering our disappointment. For example, we put in an Indiana address and zip code and some of the results were for Fresno California. This left us wondering what Lower My Bills was planning to do with our personal information.

If the goal of Lower My Bills was to provide convenient rate mortgage rate comparison information - they failed. If the effort was to lure people into providing personal and financial information for the purpose of potentially selling to other companies, they were successful.
