Learn and Master creates comprehensive multi-media training tools for those who want to learn painting at their own speed and from the comfort of their own home. With over $1 million put into each of their courses, the high quality is significant.
Gayle Levee is the instructor of the painting lesson DVD's. She's a third-generation artist whose classical training began in early childhood. She majored in painting at the University of Denver and also studied under Robert Douglas Hunter Atelier at Boston.
This well trained artist brings her knowledge to you in 20 finely organized DVD's provided in a high quality binder. In each of the lessons, Gayle Levee teaches you the painting concepts in detail, with plenty of time to practice them together. At the end of each lesson is an "assignment" where you incorporate all of the lesson's concepts into your painting. By the end of the course you have a large collection of your own art.
The painting lesson training techniques include:
Learn and Master has created a fun and easy painting lesson course to follow, as new skills build on top of the previous. This product is very fairly priced and will last many years. you could even share this program with others, since the quality level of the entire package is so high. We liked that Learn and Master also offers a payment plan to reduce your cost for the painting lessons from one lump payment to 3 or 4 as you prefer.
In the event that you aren't satisfied with the paint lesson training, they offer a 60-day return policy for a full refund of the purchase price. Course materials must be in like-new condition with no scratches or markings.
For a fair price, Learn and Master Painting provides well organized, high quality, leading edge painting lessons geared to meet the specific needs of each individual student. With training provided in DVD format, you can easily place a TV right next to the easel and start your lessons. Learn and Master teaches excellent painting techniques, and then goes into the specifics that you need to learn to paint whatever you like. For affordable painting lessons that you can learn on your own schedule, Learn and Master has created a masterpiece.
Lela Harty is a painter, long-time art school owner and instructor in the San Diego area. She's also a gallery director and creator of videos lessons on oil painting. Her training is geared for both the novice and experienced alike and is generally well-organized and easy to follow. We liked the pace of the training and the specific techniques she taught to allow you to paint anything you like in the future - not just specific objects.
This DVD set provides 8 easy to follow lessons on 4 DVD's. She will walk you through:
The return policy for this product is more limited than the lessons. Essentially the only return policy they have is if you receive a faulty DVD they will immediately replace them.
While we liked the approach the training provided and the instructor, we felt the training provided was not as extensive or impressive as the higher ranked product. For the cost of this set you will learn many of the basics but not to the extent of the higher ranked product. The website was also lacking some information but we felt assured this was a real company, with a customer service number and not a fly-by-night operation.
Darrell Crow is a non traditional artist and instructor. At the age of 43 he decided to take a see-it-to-believe it 5 hour painting class. Amazed with his results he became more interested in painting and later developed this training course. Apparently an entrepreneur at heart this training course is expensive and not just a little. The training is geared for the beginner or more advanced artist.
For $99.95 you will receive a set of 9 DVD's that includes 20 hours of step-by-step instruction on learning the basics of oil painting both landscapes and seascapes. You will also learn to oil paint skies, clouds, mountains, water, trees, and a number of out door objects.
Should you want more training make sure you get out your wallet. This course nickels and dimes you into buying more very specific course instruction for different paint types and sceneries. However, on the flip side, if you only want to learn to draw a bald eagle you have come to the right place. For $24.95 you can learn to draw just that one object given the techniques he teaches in that one video.
In the event that you are not satisfied with your purchase no refund policy exists - we found this concerning and unfortunate.
In the end, we felt this DVD set was geared toward teaching how to draw specifics objects and less so the necessary techniques. With no return policy and the expensive additional courses we felt you'd get more for your money buying a higher ranked product.
Whether you've always been interested in art or have just recently decided that painting would be a fun hobby to try, some basic training in the art of painting can start you off in the right direction.
Traditionally, painting lessons have been provided at a local college or art institute. They can cost hundreds of dollars for each painting session and are often scheduled at times that can be inconvenient to your schedule. Over time, this high cost and stressful scheduling can have a large impact on your ultimate desire to paint. Both the lack of flexibility and cost can push the dream of painting out of reality for many people.
Thankfully, there are cost effective and flexible alternatives to traditional painting lessons. Today, you can find paint lessons through the internet that will teach you how to paint, at your schedule and in the comfort of your own home.
With these programs, you can proceed through the painting lessons at your own pace, and watch your talent develop over time at the schedule you choose. However, not all painting lesson programs are the same. Some companies provide better training than others, and some charge much more than their competition.
Before you choose a painting lesson program, there are a number of important factors you should consider. Some of these include:
