Pet Insurance in Mississippi

If you are part of the more than 45% of Mississippi households who own a dog, you know the joy and companionship that come from having a furry friend at home. Studies have shown that dog owners tend to be happier and healthier than those who do not own a pet. Is it important to you to keep your Fido or Rover happy and healthy as well? Pet insurance can help you keep him in good shape while protecting your wallet as well.

Dogs can suffer from a number of conditions, but the most commonly treated ones are benign skin masses, torn ACL or cartilage, and cancer. Given that these conditions can cost from $700-$8500 to treat, without pet insurance you could find yourself having to choose between going into debt to get your pet well and needing to have your four-legged companion put to sleep because you can't afford the veterinarian's bill. While pet insurance typically covers a percentage of the total cost, it still makes it possible for most pet owners in Mississippi to help their pets without breaking the bank.

If you are a satisfied cat owner in Mississippi, you are not immune to having expensive veterinary bills. A simple tooth extraction for a cat can also cost nearly $1,000, while cancer treatments easily reach $2,000 in a typical case.

In either case, pet insurance from several companies is available in Mississippi at affordable prices; the monthly premiums generally depend on the level of coverage selected (catastrophic, comprehensive, or somewhere in between), the annual deductible, and any additional features (e.g. plans that cover routine care such as vaccinations and spaying/neutering). Be aware that pre-existing conditions may be more difficult to cover, and some dog breeds like Rottweilers and pit bulls may only receive limited coverage from a smaller number of pet insurance companies.
