Pet Insurance in Ohio

Ohio MapWhether you have a purebred Golden Retriever or a beautiful mixed-breed cat that you adopted from an animal shelter, if you live in Ohio you have access to a wide range of pet insurance policies. These plans can help cover Rover or Regina's veterinary bills so that you can focus on getting him or her well in the event of a major illness, rather than worrying about whether or not you can afford the treatment.

You may not realize exactly how expensive veterinary procedures can be when paid for strictly out of pocket. Did you know that of the ten most common surgical procedures performed on dogs and cats in a typical year, only two or three cost less than $500? If your cat has bladder stones, her surgery will average $985.30; your dog's would be approximately $1231.32. Some pet owners even find themselves having to choose among going into deep debt to pay for an even more expensive surgery (for example, $8,539.41 is the average cost for liver cancer surgery in a dog), watching a beloved pet suffer, or having it humanely euthanized to end its suffering. Pet insurance makes it much less likely that you will face that awful dilemma yourself.

Depending on your budget, you may be most comfortable with a low monthly premium basic plan that covers major illness or injury, leaving more everyday veterinary expenses such as vaccinations and annual check-ups up to you. On the other hand, you might prefer the peace of mind that comes with a more robust plan, where both catastrophic conditions and routine preventative care are both covered. Pet insurance plans vary widely, so look for a plan that meets your needs without breaking your budget.
