In the Swim is the top one-stop-shop for all of your pool supply needs. Whether you're looking for pool chemicals, fun toys, accessories, equipment, covers or anything pool and spa related, In the Swim has it all. Founded in 1982 by a husband and wife team, In the Swim has grown to be a successful pool supply store with a focus on the customer.
In the Swim far surpassed the other pool supplies companies in our review with their website functionality, layout and search capabilities. If you want to find a specific pool supply product, you can enter a keyword, narrow down your search through general categories, or even choose a specific pool supply link. We were able to find exactly what we needed, quickly and effectively, with no confusion.
The selection of pool supply products at In the Swim is strong. They offer several different brands and types of pool cleaners, heaters, filters and more for both in-ground and above-ground pools. Their prices are very fair and you can expect a large savings over local pool supplies stores.
If you're not completely satisfied with your pool supply purchase, In the Swim offers a very customer-friendly return policy. You can return the product within 30 days for a complete refund, minus shipping.
Overall, In the Swim provides an excellent online shopping experience. With a large selection of pool supplies across a wide array of products and brands, competitive pricing, and strong website functionality, In the Swim should be your first choice for pool supplies. They hear our highest rating.
One of the first to sell pool supplies online, Specialty Pool Products has built a dedicated pool supply company from the ground up. Since 1994. SPP sells a vast array of anything pool or spa related. From pool equipment, liners, covers, chemicals, alarms, inflatables, and more, Specialty Pool Products has a long list of products to meet your pool needs.
When navigating Specialty Pool Products we found the effort a little more cumbersome than some companies. While it was generally easy to find what we were looking for we found that some results would produce one product and then we'd scroll down to see a long list of additional products differing in size, type, weight, etc and other search efforts would result in multiple listings. While generally easy to find the product we wanted to compare we felt it was a bit awkward to go from picture selection to text selection.
SPP prices on chemicals, liners, and more provided a solid savings opportunity. Many of the products were competitively priced against other companies. We found in nearly every category one product that was priced about 5 -15% less that much of the competition.
Should you not be satisfied with your pool product, SPP will allow for exchanges or returns on any item within 30 days of purchase date. That does not include a list of products such as liners, chemicals, replacement parts and more. Also, SPP may access a 30% restocking fee on some products so make sure you know the specific policy before you buy.
Specialty Pool Products is a strong option for your pool supply needs. While the search effort and return policy require a little more attention you'll be able to find some savings opportunities that can mean big savings over time.
Pools Inc started over 20 years ago in Massachusetts as a retail store front. Overtime the business evolved to the Internet to provide online shoppers a full service website for their pool supply needs.
The website is packed full of pool supplies such as pool fencing, lighting, toys, covers, chemicals and more. We couldn't think of anything they didn't offer at least one product for. With the current lay out at Pools Inc you can anticipate some additional effort required to find what need. The website allows you to either narrow your search by choosing from supplies, chemicals, liners, equipment, kits, parts and more.
You may also spend time searching through a long list of product categories that vary between wide and narrow searches. The results then require you to drill down more specifically to find the individual products for sale. We thought Pools Inc would be a good resource to compare prices if you knew exactly what you needed.
Should you not be happy with your purchase, Pools Inc accepts returns within 30 days with some conditions and exclusions. The product must be returned in the original box - please see the specific policy to understand how it applies to your purchase.
Pools Inc has a selection of pool supplies that almost seems endless. Unfortunately a lack of savvy website functionality prohibits consumers from finding those products as streamlined as other companies. But with free shipping it's worth comparing prices to see if they have a better price or a product in stock that someone else might be out of. Either way, Pools Inc is worth your time for your pool supplies needs.
Pool Central strives to bring pool owners a large selection of not just pool maintenance products but also outdoor furniture, toys, and other pool-related items. Pool Central is a division of Gordon Companies Inc., which has been in business for nearly four decades. While we were not able to find a listing specifically for Pool Central with the Better Business Bureau, another division of Gordon Companies Inc. currently carries an A- rating.
Pool Central's website is relatively easy to use: product categories such as Chemicals, Recreation, and Outdoor Furniture are prominently placed at the top of the page, and each category has a dropdown to more specific items within each group. Within each category, products can be browsed individually or sorted by price. While prices were very competitive, overall selection was limited, and we were surprised to find categories without any products at all (for example, Shock).
Pool Central doesn't seem to stock more well-known brands; for example, people shopping for goggles would expect to see Speedo and TYR, but there appear to only be off-brands available in that department. The widest selection was in the Outdoor Furniture category, which might leave customers who need basic pool chemicals somewhat disappointed.
Shipping costs are low: a flat fee of $5 per order for ground shipping, regardless of item or order size. Expedited shipping is available if needed.
We also did not see a customer satisfaction guarantee for Pool Central customers. Their return policy requires that returns be made within 30 days of receipt, and that merchandise be in unused condition. Also, certain items, such as snorkels, pool chemicals, and patio furniture sets are not returnable under any circumstance other than an order error on the part of Pool Central. We'd like to see a more customer-friendly satisfaction policy, to encourage customers to consider Pool Central as a retailer of pool supplies.
In general, though we'd like to see a wider variety of products and an established customer satisfaction policy, we can recommend Pool Central as a solid provider of basic pool supplies whose low shipping costs may make larger purchases more affordable for the average consumer.
Pool Center began as a local pool service company in 1988 in the Virginia and Maryland areas before creating an online pool supply store in 1996. Pool Center is proud of their efforts to educate consumers on pool products and allow for open blog forums to share information. Pool Center has a sort of fun yet unprofessional website that might best cater to young children.
Upon arrival to Pool Center we weren't exactly sure if the website was for real. After navigating around we found it offers nice, bright category photos and despite it's elementary appearance it did an ok job of getting us to the product list we wanted. However, the product list left us wanting more. Here the pictures were tiny thumbnail shots along with high level specifics. We appreciated the effort Pool Center put into creating this sort of shopping experience but we didn't find we liked it in the end.
Should you not be completely satisfied with your purchase. Pool Center provides a standard 30 day return policy for most products in new condition, in original packaging with some exclusions. Certain products are excluded from return as is common in pool supply space.
Overall, Pool Center provides a number of pool supply products. The shopping experience is less streamlined than we liked and the appearance was unprofessional at times. If you are looking for an enjoyable shopping experience we suggest you shop a company ranked higher on the list.
Relatively new to the world of online pool supply retailers, Your Pool HQ offers a long list of pool supplies including diving boards, filters, motors, cleaners, floats and more. With Your Pool HQ being located in the Midwest we anticipated a website and shopping experience that was very customer friendly - we didn't find that.
At Your Pool HQ we ran into another company that challenged our patience. The search functionality was limited and required we do much of the work. We could only narrow our search down by pool or spa supply and then further by searching through nearly 30 categories to find the product we were looking for. Unfortunately this didn't meet our expectations.
On the products we compare we found their prices to be slightly more expensive than many other stores. We also noted they had no stated business hours and we were required to leave a voicemail the two times we attempted to contact them. We noticed at check out no handling fee but a shipping fee of $9.95 for a light weight $3.95 item.
Your Pool HQ offers the standard 30 day return policy that most companies provides and doesn't allow for returns on liners, replacement parts, pool chemicals, heaters and more.
Your Pool HQ misses the mark on website functionality, shipping costs on low priced items, customer contact information and more. If you are looking for a strong pool supply website we recommend you shop a company that has been in business longer.
Pool Products 4 Less brings over 27 years to the table of providing pool chemicals, parts, cleaners, toys and just about anything pool related. This is a family owned business but that shouldn't sway you on the professionalism and function of their website. We were instantly impressed with the look and navigation of Pool Products 4 Less as compared to many of their competitors. However, after much research we found what may be a downside to doing business with Pool Products 4 Less.
To start we were able to find some savings opportunities at this website but not across the board. It was pretty hit or miss on their prices as compared to other companies. Also this company hasn't historically demonstrated a commitment to customer service given their Better Business Bureau rating. We also noticed several unhappy customer reviews across the Internet related to customer service.
We liked that shipping prices may be estimated before you check out, yet they are overwhelmingly expensive. We attempted to purchase a variety of items and identified that the most inexpensive method was via US Post but was still $7.87 for a $4 purchase. We found other items that cost nearly $20 in shipping. However, we did like that if you spend $100 or more, Pools Products 4 Less offers free shipping.
The FAQ tab is completely blank at this website which created concern on clearly identifying the return policy and common questions and answers for customers. We identified the return policy in another section within the website. The company offers 30 days to return any unused and unopened products. Customers may expect a 20% restocking fee minus shipping charges if over $100.
Pool Products 4 Less has a nice looking website that is easy to use and well designed. However, we found a history of customer service issues and no consistent savings opportunities, as the name may imply.
Swimming Pool Supplies
If you're in need a new pool liner, cleaners, covers, chemicals, pool toys or any other pool supplies, you already know how limited your options are. Most local stores have a very limited selection of pool supplies in stock. What they do have is usually priced with high markups.
Online swimming pool supply stores, however, can carry a much larger selection of pool supplies than a traditional store. Online stores are available all year round, usually at prices that can't be beat by local swimming pool supply stores. This is because online pool supply stores typically have fewer staff and less overhead - and they usually pass that savings on directly to you, their customer.
While online swimming pool supply stores provide a convenient option for those looking for pool supplies, not all online pool stores are alike. Before making your next pool supplies purchase, consider the following:
