Where can you find the best Printer Ink? If you're looking for the best prices on toner and cartridges without sacrificing print quality, there are many online retailers that can deliver for your business or personal printing needs.

There are three main types of Printer Ink cartridges to consider: OEM, remanufactured, and compatible. OEM, or Original Equipment Manufacturer, cartridges are what you find in most office supply stores and big-box retailers. These products come directly from the brand, like HP or Canon, and are your most expensive option.

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award Established in 2003, Combo Ink offers Printer Ink in recycled cartridges that deliver high-quality, full-color results at a savings of up to 80% over OEM products. This company specializes in fast delivery, with most orders shipped within 24 hours of your purchase.

And, of course, if you're looking for those great prices, you'll find them with this retailer. For comparison shopping purposes, we chose two types of Printer Ink, inkjet and laser printer, from two of the most popular brands. These cartridges are typically priced at $82 and $125, respectively, when buying OEM from your local office supply store.

Fortunately, you'll pay less than half that when buying replacement or compatible cartridges through Combo Ink. See for yourself:

  • HP 902 XL: $40.66 for a combo set of high-yield replacement cartridges (1 black, 1 cyan, 1 magenta, 1 yellow). Individual cartridges are priced at $8.95 for color and $15.95 for black.
  • Samsung MLT-D115L: $44.99 for a compatible high-yield cartridge. 2-, 4-, and 10-packs available for extra savings.

While we were browsing the site, we got a pop-up discount offer: 10% off with the provided code, or 15% off if we subscribed to Combo Ink's email newsletter. Combo Ink also offers free 2-day shipping on orders over $50 - a nice perk if you've got print jobs that can't wait a week for your cartridges to arrive.

Another great way to save money when buying Printer Ink from this store is their Build a Combo option. If you don't find the exact configuration of cartridges you need - maybe you want 3 black replacements for every 1 color cartridge, for example - you can put together what you need and get a discount. You'll save 4% when you order 2 of the same items, 5.5% on 5 of the same items, 7.5% on 10, and 10% on 50. You'll see your order total drop as you add the items to your cart.

What about returns? Combo Ink does a great job in that department too. You can return your order for any reason within 10 days of delivery for a full refund. You're also covered for a full year under these conditions: defective cartridges are eligible for a refund, and non-defective, unopened cartridges can be returned for a store credit with no restocking fee or a refund minus a 15% restocking fee.

Over nearly 17,000 customer reviews on a third-party site, Combo Ink's parent company earned an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Customers had great things to say about the quality of the ink and the fast, friendly response from company representatives when the occasional problem arose.

Combo Ink makes it easy to get every possible discount available. When it comes to the lowest possible prices at the highest quality, a great 1-year return policy, and a demonstrated track record for top-notch customer service, you won't do better than Combo Ink. They earn our highest rating.

Comp and Save

COMP AND SAVE

CompAndSave is the parent company behind our first-place Printer Ink company, Combo Ink. Unsurprisingly, you'll find the same low prices and great perks offered by both online stores.

In fact, at first glance on our comparison products, CompAndSave came in a little cheaper (list price) for one and the exact same for the other:

  • HP 902 XL: $38.80 for a combo set of high-yield replacement cartridges (1 black, 1 cyan, 1 magenta, 1 yellow). Individual cartridges are priced at $8.95 for color and $15.95 for black.
  • Samsung MLT-D115L: $44.99 for a compatible high-yield cartridge. 2-, 4-, and 10-packs available for extra savings.

However - when you factor in the coupons that were so easy to find on the Combo Ink site, CompAndSave comes in just a little behind: you'll have to dig to find any available discounts on this online store. (Hint: look at the Score Extra Savings banner at the top of the page; we found codes for 8% off orders of $45+ and a few others.) If you want to score similar savings to the Combo Ink page, look for a bar on the side of the page that says, "See More Savings" and you'll get the 15% off code when you sign up for their newsletter.

We also didn't find the "build your combo" feature on the CompAndSave store. You can still get discounts for ordering 3 or more products, though.

Other than those small details, almost everything is the same between the Combo Ink and CompAndSave stores. You can take advantage of a great return policy, free shipping on orders over $50, all from a store with a fantastic reputation: thousands of 4- and 5-star reviews and an "A+" from the BBB. Additionally, CompAndSave specifically references a Low Price Guarantee, so if you find your Printer Ink at a competitor site, chances are good that you can get it matched by this retailer.

Low prices, an extended return policy, and an ironclad reputation for customer service all make CompAndSave a worthy choice when buying Printer Ink for any brand of printer.

But when you buy OEM Printer Ink from an online retailer, chances are very good that you'll save a lot of money over buying it from your local store. Remanufactured cartridges take the OEM products and refill them. That way, you know the cartridges will still be the right fit for your printer, and you pay less because you're essentially paying just for new ink.

While a few stores that sell Printer Ink will allow you to send in your used cartridges - or offer kits that let you refill your cartridges at home - most services that sell remanufactured ink and toner send you the cartridges pre-filled.

Compatible Printer Ink cartridges aren't made by your printer's manufacturer. Instead, they are made by third-party companies and typically go through rigorous testing to ensure that they deliver the same fit and print quality as the OEM cartridges. These are often the most economical option, since you're not paying for the brand-name reputation.

Depending on which type of Printer Ink cartridge you choose, you could save anywhere from 30-70% over the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Many online retailers offer promotional discounts, free shipping on orders that meet a minimum spend amount, and even deeper discounts when you buy in bulk. Also, the best online sellers of Printer Ink offer excellent satisfaction guarantee policies, giving you the confidence that your cartridge will work perfectly - or your money back.

When choosing an online store for your next Printer Ink order, how can you decide which company is right for you? Here are several criteria to keep in mind:

  • Selection. Does the business carry a wide range of products for your printer brand? Can you get the type of cartridge - OEM, remanufactured, or compatible - that you prefer?
  • Price. How competitive are the prices with respect to other stores? Are there any discounts that can save you more? Does the company offer free shipping?
  • Reputation. What do other customers have to say about their experience buying and using Printer Ink cartridges from this store? Is the customer service team responsive if there's a problem? Has the company been rated by the BBB?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Printer Ink stores available today. We hope this information helps you get your next ink or toner cartridges at the best price!
