Where can you find the best Printer Ink? If you're looking for the best prices on toner and cartridges without sacrificing print quality, there are many online retailers that can deliver for your business or personal printing needs.

There are three main types of Printer Ink cartridges to consider: OEM, remanufactured, and compatible. OEM, or Original Equipment Manufacturer, cartridges are what you find in most office supply stores and big-box retailers. These products come directly from the brand, like HP or Canon, and are your most expensive option.

Comp and Save

COMP AND SAVE

Visit Site

CompAndSave is the parent company behind our first-place Printer Ink company, Combo Ink. Unsurprisingly, you'll find the same low prices and great perks offered by both online stores.

In fact, at first glance on our comparison products, CompAndSave came in a little cheaper (list price) for one and the exact same for the other:

  • HP 902 XL: $38.80 for a combo set of high-yield replacement cartridges (1 black, 1 cyan, 1 magenta, 1 yellow). Individual cartridges are priced at $8.95 for color and $15.95 for black.
  • Samsung MLT-D115L: $44.99 for a compatible high-yield cartridge. 2-, 4-, and 10-packs available for extra savings.

However - when you factor in the coupons that were so easy to find on the Combo Ink site, CompAndSave comes in just a little behind: you'll have to dig to find any available discounts on this online store. (Hint: look at the Score Extra Savings banner at the top of the page; we found codes for 8% off orders of $45+ and a few others.) If you want to score similar savings to the Combo Ink page, look for a bar on the side of the page that says, "See More Savings" and you'll get the 15% off code when you sign up for their newsletter.

We also didn't find the "build your combo" feature on the CompAndSave store. You can still get discounts for ordering 3 or more products, though.

Other than those small details, almost everything is the same between the Combo Ink and CompAndSave stores. You can take advantage of a great return policy, free shipping on orders over $50, all from a store with a fantastic reputation: thousands of 4- and 5-star reviews and an "A+" from the BBB. Additionally, CompAndSave specifically references a Low Price Guarantee, so if you find your Printer Ink at a competitor site, chances are good that you can get it matched by this retailer.

Low prices, an extended return policy, and an ironclad reputation for customer service all make CompAndSave a worthy choice when buying Printer Ink for any brand of printer.

Ink Plus Toner

INK PLUS TONER

Visit Site

No matter which type of Printer Ink cartridge you want, Ink Plus Toner has you covered. In business since 2004, this California-based retailer carries OEM, remanufactured and compatible cartridges for the most common brands of printers: HP, Canon, Panasonic, and more.

Ink Plus Toner measures up competitively when considering price. Take a look at how this store did on our two comparison products:

  • HP 902 XL: unlike many of the Printer Ink stores we evaluated, Ink Plus Toner didn't offer a set with multiple cartridges. Instead, we had to order each cartridge individually. OEM cartridges sold for $25.99 per color unit and $49.95 for black units. Remanufactured cartridges were available for $9.99 for color units and $19.99 for black units. Both types of cartridge had discounts of $1 per cartridge when ordering 3 at a time.
  • Samsung MLT-D115L: $26.99, compatible (described as "replacement"), $1 discount per cartridge when buying 3 at a time.

We found several customers who were thrilled to find Printer Ink cartridges for their older-model printers. That's proof that Ink Plus Toner carries a wide selection of products, even if you don't have the latest printer on the market.

This retailer has a lower threshold for getting free shipping, when compared with other stores: you'll only have to spend more than $35 to get your Printer Ink delivered at no charge.

Ink Plus Toner has a good reputation, as shown by their "A" grade with the Better Business Bureau over more than 14 years in operation. While some customers have had issues with defective cartridges, the general consensus is that Ink Plus Toner is responsive and friendly with making needed replacements.

On the other hand, this business' return and satisfaction isn't as generous as some of the stores in our review. You'll have just 90 days to make a return or refund request. If you are claiming that your Printer Ink cartridge is defective, you could incur a restocking fee of 30% if Ink Plus Toner determines that there was no defect. You also need to ensure that your cartridge is at least 70% full when returning it, in order to be eligible for a replacement or refund.

Overall, Ink Plus Toner is a good choice when purchasing Printer Ink online. You might have to do a little extra work to add all of the products you want to your cart, but the savings on the price combined with free shipping may be well worth the effort.

Continued from above

But when you buy OEM Printer Ink from an online retailer, chances are very good that you'll save a lot of money over buying it from your local store. Remanufactured cartridges take the OEM products and refill them. That way, you know the cartridges will still be the right fit for your printer, and you pay less because you're essentially paying just for new ink.

While a few stores that sell Printer Ink will allow you to send in your used cartridges - or offer kits that let you refill your cartridges at home - most services that sell remanufactured ink and toner send you the cartridges pre-filled.

Compatible Printer Ink cartridges aren't made by your printer's manufacturer. Instead, they are made by third-party companies and typically go through rigorous testing to ensure that they deliver the same fit and print quality as the OEM cartridges. These are often the most economical option, since you're not paying for the brand-name reputation.

Depending on which type of Printer Ink cartridge you choose, you could save anywhere from 30-70% over the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Many online retailers offer promotional discounts, free shipping on orders that meet a minimum spend amount, and even deeper discounts when you buy in bulk. Also, the best online sellers of Printer Ink offer excellent satisfaction guarantee policies, giving you the confidence that your cartridge will work perfectly - or your money back.

When choosing an online store for your next Printer Ink order, how can you decide which company is right for you? Here are several criteria to keep in mind:

  • Selection. Does the business carry a wide range of products for your printer brand? Can you get the type of cartridge - OEM, remanufactured, or compatible - that you prefer?
  • Price. How competitive are the prices with respect to other stores? Are there any discounts that can save you more? Does the company offer free shipping?
  • Reputation. What do other customers have to say about their experience buying and using Printer Ink cartridges from this store? Is the customer service team responsive if there's a problem? Has the company been rated by the BBB?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Printer Ink stores available today. We hope this information helps you get your next ink or toner cartridges at the best price!
