BBB Rating:

A-

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award The Diamond Valet is relatively new to the diamond buying business. They opened their online doors in 2011 and have many people taking notice. Customers appreciate their initial valuation that occurs via the phone, and they take a proactive approach to buying diamonds. The company currently holds an A- Better Business Bureau ranking, with zero customer complaints on record.

As far as selling your diamond, the only requirement established by this company is that the carat size be 0.5 or greater. Diamond Valet will consider any cut, clarity and diamond certification paperwork that is presented to them. That includes diamond tennis bracelets, engagement rings, wedding rings, stud earrings, loose diamonds, and more.

The process of selling diamonds to The Diamond Valet is very straightforward:

  1. You complete a short online form to describe your diamond in brief detail
  2. A knowledgeable customer service representative will call to save time answering any questions regarding your submission
  3. A FedEx package will be sent to your doorstep. You send your diamond, along with any diamond certification paperwork that you have available. All shipments are insured up to $1,500.00. If you'd like additional insurance on your package, you can purchase more.
  4. The Diamond Valet inspects and evaluates your diamond. They determine a fair offer price, based on diamond quality and demand.
  5. Their offer is emailed to you, and you can choose to accept or decline their offer. If accepted, they will send payment via check, PayPal, cashier's check, or Western Union.

The Diamond Valet stood out among the top diamond buying companies for their professionalism, customer service and integrity. While we'd like to see some additional functionality built into their website, we felt that their honest business practices trumped some bells and whistles. Diamond Valet may be a new kid on the block, but they're worth a look if you want to sell your diamond. They earn our highest rating.

BBB Rating:

A

Gold Fellow offers customers an online cash for diamonds, gold, silver, platinum and more service. In business since 1999, Gold Fellow's has several satisfied customers under their belt given their A Better Business Bureau rating. Visitors will find an easy to follow process and a website that works well to keep you informed.

Gold Fellow will purchase diamonds that are .25 carat or greater. They do put some restrictions on diamonds and will not purchase clarity enhanced, laser drilled, artificially colored treated, low clarity or diamonds with large inclusions. All packages are insured for $2,500 by Gold Fellow which reduces any concern that a loss could occur in transit.

If you're selling multiple diamonds or gold you'll appreciate that Gold Fellow breaks down the individual value for each item. This allows someone to pick and choose what they want to sell and for how much.

The overall process is very straightforward at Gold Fellow:

  1. Request a free FedEx shipping label, instructions and packaging online. Or print all of the necessary documents at home to expedite the process
  2. Gold Fellow will test and weigh the jewelry and post a written cash settlement for each item on the website
  3. Upon notification from Gold Fellow the customers looks online to review the cash value
  4. The customer may accept or reject the offer on line within 24 hours
  5. Gold Fellow will send payments via check, Paypal or a wire direct to your account. Wire transfers are free if over $1,000.00
  6. If you later regret your decision, Gold Fellow gives customers 10 days to return the payment and receive the jewelry back free of charge

Gold Fellow is a solid choice if you're wanting to sell your diamonds. However, be sure that your diamonds fit the criteria outlined on their website before moving forward. Customers will appreciate the quick processing turnaround and step-by-step instructions. If you're considering selling any of your diamond jewelry, Gold Fellow is a great choice.

Some people like the option of a "draft offer" before sending away their precious diamonds. This gives them a chance to determine if the diamond payout offered is worth their consideration before moving forward. In the end, if you don't like the offered purchase price for your diamond, these companies will return your jewelry per your request.

When choosing a diamond for cash company, you should carefully consider the following:

  • BBB rating. Have customers had problems with the Sell Diamond company in the past? How highly rated is the business?
  • Requirements. Will the Sell Diamond company buy any diamond, or do they have guidelines on what they will accept?
  • Process. Is the process to sell your diamond clear cut and worry free? Do you have the option to accept or deny the payment before it's processed?
