Care was created in 2006 and holds the largest database of caregivers for all of your senior care, child care, tutoring, pet care, and personal assistant needs. Unlike some other websites, senior care is not an afterthought at Care - we were impressed with the large number of qualified and affordable senior care providers across North America. From in-home individuals, senior housing, special needs caregivers, and more - you'll find qualified senior care resources at Care.
The Care website provides a straightforward approach to finding quality individuals and companies for your senior care needs. We liked the simple yet comprehensive search tool that allows you to explore many different options. You simply type in your zip code and choose the level or type of care that you're considering in order to view a list of senior care providers in your area. Alternatively, you can also post a job in order to help find the right individual for your specific senior care needs. We liked the options to further refine our search by selecting from a number of parameters such as respiratory care, bathing, laundry, insulin injections, and more.
It's important to run a background check on any in-home senior care provider you may be considering. Care offers a free standard background check on all caregivers. This includes verifying the social security number and a search on criminal and sex offender records. You may also pay extra for a wider background search if you feel it's necessary.
The pricing to find quality senior care providers at Care is simple and affordable. At only $35 per month we felt that Care offers an excellent website service at a fair price. We also appreciated the free background check and the large database of potential caregivers at all levels of senior care needs. If you're looking for a senior care provider for your aging relative, Care should be your first stop. They earn our highest rating.
Sitter City was founded in 2001 and provides a database of over 2 million providers of child, pet and elder care individuals across the nation. Sitter City's Companion Care is geared for those older individuals that need assistance with household chores, companionship, as well as services for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Sitter City is free for those that want to post a job or search their database to find a qualified care companion in your area. However, membership is required to actually connect with a potential care giver.
Posting a job is as simple as identifying the schedule, start date, location, gender, age range for care giver, the type of care, and any additional specifics. Sitter City also allows you to search their database for an existing companion in your area. After choosing the location, you may search by skill sets, schedule and more. We liked that Sitter City will also facilitate a background check, at the customer's expense, as needed. One thing we didn't like about the Sitter City website is that once you start the registration process the website will not allow you to change your mind and search the databases again before making that final purchase.
As far as existing customer reviews go, we found a mixed bag. Many people were able to find the right people to assist with elder care but others complained of trouble with billing and customer service. We found that spending a lot of time browsing their existing database first, before paying for a membership, is important in deciding if the right individuals are in your area for assistance. As with any company like this, there will be an abundance of care givers in one location and slim pickings in others. The membership fees are priced competitively with savings opportunities when you sign up for multiple months.
Overall, Sitter City Companion Care is worth your consideration but be sure to fully utilize the free search options before attempting registration. If you find a nice selection of qualified individuals in your area than it may be worth purchasing a membership to connect with those individuals.
Years Ahead is new to the market and was designed with the goal to bring multiple senior care options to the consumer. Their network of providers runs the gamut of in-home senior companions, home health aides, independent living facilities and assisted care.
Years Ahead is a straightforward website that is simple to use and offers an abundance of resources. Click on a tab to help you prepare for senior care change. We especially liked the online took to determine the care needs of their loved one. You may also weigh the pro's and con's of the different care options, understand costs of each option and find resources to help monitor the care once it's put in place. Searching through the Years Ahead database is relatively simple. Input your zip code and the type of assistance you're looking for to view results online.
Given that Years Ahead is new to the market we understood why they had fewer options than companies more established. Our only complaint at Years Ahead is that you can't peruse a list of in-home individuals to choose from. Years Ahead asks that you speak to one of their representatives, actually a partnership they have with ElderCareLink, to help you find that right person.
Years Ahead makes their money from receiving referral fees from the various senior care facilities that they drive business to. Therefore, any assistance they provide to the consumer is free.
We felt that Years Ahead is a great option for those that are looking for resources and are leaning towards a senior facility of varying levels. The more affordable option of in-home care was where development needs to be focused. Overall, Years Ahead is a solid website with great resources for those looking for senior care assistance.
Great AuPair is an Nevada based company and has been in the business of matching au pairs, nannies, housekeepers, babysitters, pet sitters, tutors and senior care providers with needy families since 2001. This matching service is intended to find help either locally or internationally and is said to have matched over 1 million families with the help they need. From reviewing the website site our guess is they've helped very few with elder care needs.
The cost of using the Great AuPair service is a little steep at $65.00 per month. However, Great AuPair does offer limited access for free. Post a job, run a background check on US candidates, and peruse a database base of care givers at no cost. Unfortunately, senior care is not the focus at Great AuPair. We found only a handful of candidates in several major cities in the US and those we found had limited skill sets. Also, the database allows you to locate senior care individuals but will provide results of those not wanting to work in your area. Overall, the search was very time consuming and fruitless.
Great AuPair is a unique site in that it helps find families and care givers in over 150 countries but unfortunately it doesn't seem to draw the candidates for the elderly population. It also doesn't provide many resources or other facility options like those companies ranked higher. If you are in need of senior care we recommend you choose a higher ranked company to assist.
As our population ages, finding quality senior care is more important now than ever before. As a parent or loved one ages, they eventually need help with handling many things - from finances and shopping, to personal hygiene and more. It can be stressful for both that aging parent as well as the concerned relative.
Many people find themselves in a difficult balance of providing needed senior assistance while allowing them to maintain their dignity and sense of self. Finding professional senior care is often a great solution to keep the frustration down for everyone. Senior Care might mean in-home visits for help with shopping or light house work, daily assistance with taking medication and preparing meals, or even moving to an assisted living facility.
Where do you right find the senior care you need for your aging loved one? Several companies exist today that provide a database of qualified senior care givers to expedite your search. These companies offer thousands of individuals and facilities in many cities throughout North America.
However, not all senior care websites are the same. Before you hire your next elder care provider, you should consider a few factors:
