WILSON & WILSON

Wilson & Wilson operates out of Omaha Nebraska and provides premium steaks. Gift giving is available but the prices are higher and the selection is less abundant. Wilson & Wilson sells only Certified Angus Beef and that's evident in the price.

Gift giving options include gift certificates, a few combination boxes and the ability to mix and match to make your own. With each order a message is sent to the recipient letting them know a gift of fine beef has been personally selected by you and will arrive soon.

Prices range on the higher side when compared with the competition. Unfortunately, Wilson & Wilson provides no return policy. If you are not satisfied with your order you are out of luck. The company appears to be committed to provided quality beef but if something happens in the shipping then you are out of luck.

As a result of the fewer choices in gifts and steaks, the higher prices, and the poor guarantee we recommend you select a higher ranked company for your steak needs.

STEAKS & GAME

S&G, a division of Gourmet Food World, bills itself as "the ultimate destination for steak and meat lovers." Its offerings include standard grass-fed beef cuts - NY Strip, Tenderloin, Porterhouse, and so forth - along with the trendy-and-pricey Wagyu beef. Not limited to beef, however, S&G also has a wide selection of other meats: bison/buffalo, pork, venison, elk, poultry, and even exotic meats such as alligator and antelope.

With respect to pricing, S&G definitely falls on the higher end; some of its most expensive meats cost more than $2,000. They do offer a Grill Club; membership includes a 10% discount on the first order, members-only offers, and an e-mail newsletter. Shipping is advertised as a flat-rate of $8.00 for orders over $50, but as many items need to be sent overnight, the cost to ship is likely to be an expensive $25.

Unfortunately, this merchant does not accept returns of perishable items, and any returns of non-perishable items must be authorized by phone and may be subject to a restocking fee of 20% or $5. They do however, offer gift certificates available in any amount, and can be delivered by regular mail or e-mail, for those in a hurry.

S&G's website seems to be incomplete; many items are missing photos, the links to buyers guides (for example, "The Difference between Wagyu and Kobe Beef") don't go anywhere, and the spelling mistakes give the impression of S&G not being as premium as their products and prices would indicate. At the time of our analysis, none of the products listed on the site have reviews, contributing to the impression that this is not yet a well-established business. We look forward to S&G cleaning up their website for future shoppers.

Whether you're shopping for your relatives, an important client, or a barbeque buff, finding the right gift can be a challenge. The internet has brought us access to a number of great choices for gift giving. One practical and welcomed idea in today's economy is steak.

In the past, shopping at the supermarket to find quality steaks and preparing them as a gift would have been an unfeasible option.
