Located in the heart of the Midwest, known for some of the best steaks in the world, Omaha Steaks has provided grain-fed beef to thousands of happy customers since 1917. Flash frozen and individually vacuum-wrapped to maintain premium quality, Omaha Steaks consistently receives the highest comments and ratings from their customers.
Gift giving is easy with Omaha Steaks. They offer an ideal array of gift options including steaks, pork, seafood, poultry, desserts, and more. For the steak lover, you can choose from a variety of cuts including Filet Mignon, Strip steaks, Top Sirloins, Ribeyes, T-Bones, and Porterhouses, just to name a few. Once you choose your cut of steak, you can then select type and size you want.
For example, if you want to order a set of Filet Mignon, you can choose from a Regular Filet, a Triple-trimmed Filet, a Bacon-wrapped Filet, or a Private Reserve Filet. Within each of these options you can choose the size of steak - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 10oz, depending on the type of Filet you choose.
Options like these give you fantastic control over precisely what kind of steak you want to order, and are unmatched by the other steak companies we reviewed. All steaks are cut lean for the best results. Prices range based on the type of steak ordered, of course, but are generally very competitive with the competition.
Beyond steak, we were surprised at the variety of other fine meats offered by Omaha Steaks. Chicken, Duck, Turkey, Veal, Pork, and Lamb are all represented well. And to top it off, they even offer appetizers, sauces, glazes, and wine pairings for every entree.
When ordering as a gift, you can choose to have your selections delivered in an elegant burgundy gift box and paired with a distinctive personalized greeting card. This really does make a distinctive gift, sure to impress.
Omaha Steaks provide excellent customer service as well as an unconditional satisfaction guarantee. If you're not satisfied with your purchase for any reason at all, you can request either a replacement order or a full refund of your money. As far as customer guarantees go, this is as good as it gets, folks.
Omaha Steaks caters to the gift giver and provides an almost endless list of options to choose from. They seal the deal with top-quality meat, great gift giving ideas, excellent customer service and one of the best customer guarantees we've seen. For steak companies, Omaha Steaks leads the pack and has earned our highest rating.
Chicago Steak Company is a provider of gourmet steaks, seafood and desserts. They offer corn-fed USDA beef from cattle raised in the Midwest. The Chicago Steak Company allows their meat to wet age for a minimum of 28 days to maximize tenderness and enhance the flavors. The selection of steaks and gift options are significant.
Finding a gift from the Chicago Steak Company is easy. You simply click on "Gift Selections" category to review a number of options. You may choose from several nice combination boxes with hamburgers, steaks, chicken, and more all packaged in nice gift boxes. You may also select a box of steaks, a steak of the month club, gourmet meat, seafood and desserts. Gift certificates are available from this site and all purchases come with grilling tips and a suggested temperature chart for better results.
In selecting a steak, you may choose from three different qualities of meat including premium choice, black angus, and USDA prime five star reserve. While the selection of cuts and quality are abundant there was some limitation with buying your size of choice. For example, black angus filet mignon are only offered in the 10 oz size versus other sites that offer 4 oz, 6 oz and 8 oz sizes. Steak prices range based on the quality of steak selected but were generally in the middle- to higher- range of the companies we reviewed.
In the event that you aren't satisfied with your purchase from Chicago Steak Company they will replace the purchase or refund your money - whichever you prefer. We found several accounts of happy customers that loved the taste of the meat and the entire shopping experience with this company.
Chicago Steak Company offers a wonderful shopping opportunity for those looking to purchase quality meat for friends and family on their holiday list. We appreciated the customer service at this company along with all of the gift options available. If you are looking to buy steaks you should definitely consider Chicago Steak Company for all your needs.
Snake River Farms is part of a company that has been in business since the 1960's. Their goal of producing the highest quality beef in the United States is backed up by a business model which involves them in all processes of the beef lifecycle: from feeding and nutrition to marketing and packaging. This holistic approach makes Snake River Farms a full ranch to table operation and differentiates them from larger steak delivery companies.
Snake River Farms steaks are wet aged, which is said to produce a juicier, more tender piece of meat. They do this with both USDA Prime and American Wagyu cuts of beef. Snake River Farm's American Wagyu, beef that grades higher than USDA Prime, uses the Japanese Beef Marbling Standard grading scale (1 to 12 with 12 being the best) and is designated at two levels. The Black level grades at 6 or higher and their Gold level grades at 9 or higher on the Japanese Beef Marbling Standard. For comparison, USDA Prime beef reaches 4 to 5 on the Japanese scale.
The website for Snake River Farms is both user friendly and appealing. Shoppers looking for a gift option will uncover a decent selection at Snake River Farms. From popular and budget, friendly packages to premium options and business gifts, there is something for everyone. Also, custom gifting options are available to customers ordering 5 or more gifts. Along with easily accessible product categories, customers will find cooking guides and recipes that create an all-around positive shopping experience.
Snake River Farms is very competitive regarding price, and in many cases less expensive, when compared to other reviewed companies, both for their American Wagyu and USDA Prime beef. Their shipping charges are competitive as well, ranging from $9.99 for standard shipping up to $79.99 for overnight.
No matter the shipping preference, recipients can expect every cut of meat to arrive safely in an insulated cooler, packed with dry ice to maintain an appropriate shipping environment. All items are sent frozen and will arrive frozen, partially thawed, or chilled. Customer service representatives are available on weekdays to assist in fixing any issues with the quality, condition, or accuracy of products received.
Whether you're shopping for friends or family their gift box options are a great present. From quality and price to selection and shopping experience, Snake River Farms is near the top. And another reason to choose Snake River Farms is the opportunity to enjoy high-grade Wagyu beef, which is available at a small handful of websites. Snake River Farms is a great option for all your steak delivery needs.
You may already be familiar with Harry & David as prime source of gifts for all occasions. Especially around the holidays, you might have had some of their famous Moose Munch or received a shipment of seasonal fruit. But, did you know that their partnership with Stock Yards allows you to order top-quality beef, aged for 21-30 days, for yourself or for your gift-giving needs?
Harry & David's is part of a larger brand family that gives customers access to a wide range of products, from flowers to chocolate and much more. That also lets you take advantage of an exceptional guarantee across all of their partner companies: love what you receive, or get a replacement or refund, no questions asked.
So, what mouth-watering goodness can you find with Harry & David? Look under the Stock Yards Steaks tab and you'll see a total of 30 items ranging from New York Strip Steak to Chateaubriand Tenderloin Roast and much more. Is surf and turf more your style? They've got that too. You'll also find options for extras: look for the button that says "Add Something Special" to add in wine, savory finishing butters, seasonings, and other items that can enhance your Steak or Seafood choice.
Unlike most of the Steak retailers in our review, Harry & David takes gift-giving to a new level by offering monthly subscription clubs: Stock Yards Club and Steakhouse Club. Yes, you read that right: a club for MEAT! Now, as you might expect, these clubs don't come cheap. Both offer the option to have monthly deliveries for 3, 6, or 12 months, and you can choose the month that your membership begins - either the current month or one of the following two months.
The Steakhouse option ranges from $349.99 (three-month) to $1,299.99 (12-month) and features USDA Prime and USDA Choice cuts of "steakhouse-quality steaks, chops, and more". Previous selections include four 10-ounce filet mignon, rack of lamb, and spiral sliced ham. If you'd prefer to spend a little less, the Stock Yards Club retails for $199.99 to $749.99 and includes many of the meat selections from the premium club, along with some lower-cost options like steak burgers and pork roast. Club prices do not include shipping fees of $9.99 per delivery.
While there is a Celebrations Passport program that allows shoppers to get free shipping and other perks for a year, all for a fee of $29.99, be aware that the shipping discount would only apply to your a la carte order, not to either of the Steak clubs. But, if you're planning on ordering several gifts over the course of 12 months - flowers for Mother's Day, chocolates for Valentine's Day, popcorn for Christmas, and so on - you should decide if the Passport membership might be worth the investment.
Overall, Harry & David is a solid choice for Steak, and their two membership clubs give them an advantage over some of their competitors.
Crowd Cow wants to put the best beef in your hands - or better yet, on your plate. Where does the best beef come from? Local farms, of course. But, if you've ever tried to buy steaks from a local farm, you're aware of the challenges: you often have to commit to buying ¼ or more of an entire cow, so you're out of luck if you don't own a large freezer.
Maybe you've done this in the past, dividing your "share" with friends or neighbors. That's the premise behind Crowd Cow - allowing 50-100 people to buy a smaller amount of beef at a time, typically 5-10 pounds, and bringing the highest-quality steaks, ground beef, and other cuts to their doorsteps.
What's a typical price when buying steak or other cuts through Crowd Cow? You'll have to create a (free) account to access this information, but here's a sampling of what we found for the cow that was being "shared" at the time of our review:
Regardless of the size of the order, shipping costs $12.95.
Besides the cost, the only drawback to using Crowd Cow is that there are no gift-giving options. Because of the crowdfunding style they use to sell beef, there's no way to give a gift certificate or send a steak on demand.
Other than that, Crowd Cow may be the ideal option for beef lovers who want the best quality meat, and who like to know exactly where their steak, roast, or burgers came from - without having to commit to purchasing hundreds of pounds of meat at a time. If this method of buying steak interests you, we recommend that you create a free account so that you can see what farms are currently sharing in your area (or that ship to your zip code).
Wilson & Wilson operates out of Omaha Nebraska and provides premium steaks. Gift giving is available but the prices are higher and the selection is less abundant. Wilson & Wilson sells only Certified Angus Beef and that's evident in the price.
Gift giving options include gift certificates, a few combination boxes and the ability to mix and match to make your own. With each order a message is sent to the recipient letting them know a gift of fine beef has been personally selected by you and will arrive soon.
Prices range on the higher side when compared with the competition. Unfortunately, Wilson & Wilson provides no return policy. If you are not satisfied with your order you are out of luck. The company appears to be committed to provided quality beef but if something happens in the shipping then you are out of luck.
As a result of the fewer choices in gifts and steaks, the higher prices, and the poor guarantee we recommend you select a higher ranked company for your steak needs.
S&G, a division of Gourmet Food World, bills itself as "the ultimate destination for steak and meat lovers." Its offerings include standard grass-fed beef cuts - NY Strip, Tenderloin, Porterhouse, and so forth - along with the trendy-and-pricey Wagyu beef. Not limited to beef, however, S&G also has a wide selection of other meats: bison/buffalo, pork, venison, elk, poultry, and even exotic meats such as alligator and antelope.
With respect to pricing, S&G definitely falls on the higher end; some of its most expensive meats cost more than $2,000. They do offer a Grill Club; membership includes a 10% discount on the first order, members-only offers, and an e-mail newsletter. Shipping is advertised as a flat-rate of $8.00 for orders over $50, but as many items need to be sent overnight, the cost to ship is likely to be an expensive $25.
Unfortunately, this merchant does not accept returns of perishable items, and any returns of non-perishable items must be authorized by phone and may be subject to a restocking fee of 20% or $5. They do however, offer gift certificates available in any amount, and can be delivered by regular mail or e-mail, for those in a hurry.
S&G's website seems to be incomplete; many items are missing photos, the links to buyers guides (for example, "The Difference between Wagyu and Kobe Beef") don't go anywhere, and the spelling mistakes give the impression of S&G not being as premium as their products and prices would indicate. At the time of our analysis, none of the products listed on the site have reviews, contributing to the impression that this is not yet a well-established business. We look forward to S&G cleaning up their website for future shoppers.
Whether you're shopping for your relatives, an important client, or a barbeque buff, finding the right gift can be a challenge. The internet has brought us access to a number of great choices for gift giving. One practical and welcomed idea in today's economy is steak.
In the past, shopping at the supermarket to find quality steaks and preparing them as a gift would have been an unfeasible option. Providing the appropriate packaging and successfully keeping the steak cold is a significant challenge. Today, however, a number of companies provide high quality steaks and meal options as a great gift idea.
Steak companies range in the level of gift giving services available. Some offer steaks, combination meat options, desserts, recipe books, special seasonings and more - while others have much more limited options.
For those looking to send steak as a gift, finding the right steak company is important in your overall satisfaction. Significant factors to consider before buying include:
