If you sell more than one product or service, feature a promotional discount on a different product every few weeks. You can do this through a pop-up ad that will appear to visitors no matter which page of your website they are viewing, or you can do it through a stationary banner ad that appears on one or all of your website's pages. If you sell only one product or offer only one service, you can still make use of this tool by occasionally offering discount coupons or specials.

Before purchasing any product or service, one of the first things most customers seek out is reviews and recommendations about your products and services. Including customer testimonials and reviews from outside agencies on your website can help new clients to feel confident that they have chosen the right provider when they decide to do business with you. These items can be included on their own page, or peppered throughout the website so that no matter which page is being viewed, the option to see testimonials and reviews is available.

While you want people to buy your product or service, there is a fine line between enticing them to do so, and browbeating them into it. The last thing you want to do on your website is to make customers feel pressured into buying. If they feel pressured, they are less likely to do business with you, or recommend you to others.

If you sell a variety of products, one of the most effective marketing tools to use on your website is the inclusion of images of those products. Shopping online may be convenient for most people, but it also provides a challenge not faced when shopping in a traditional store - they cannot see, feel or touch the product being sold in advance of buying it online. One of the best ways to correct this problem is to provide colorful photos of your products or services. Offering an easy and fair return policy for products also is an excellent way to get those who may be leery of buying online to give it a try.

Lastly, make sure your copy and content is clean and easy to read. Most intelligent people will find it a strike against your credibility if your website is rife with spelling errors or poorly-written content. If writing is not your forte, considering hiring a professional copywriter to produce content for your website. Copywriters are able to not only write text for each page of the website, but also can help with things like product descriptions and blog or newsletter posts.
