Uniwigs

UNIWIGS Visit Site

Cost:

From $44 to $499

Uniwigs is a California-based retailer of wigs, both synthetic and human hair alike. They offer an impressive variety of styles, colors, and cap preferences; shoppers will particularly appreciate the ability to see products that match current trends. For example, after the Grammys, celebrities like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were pictured along with the perfect wig to match their hairstyle.

This retailer also provides a selection for customers with more specific needs, such as Jewish wigs or wigs for people experiencing hair loss due to alopecia or chemotherapy. Wigs can also be customized according to the customer's preference, though customers should be aware that delivery times are considerably longer for custom-made products. Shipping costs a very reasonable $4.95 for orders under $49, and is free for all other orders.

Unfortunately, the site makes it difficult to sort through the available wigs; there is no feature enabling shoppers to sort by length, color, or even style. Instead, customers must choose whether they prefer human hair or synthetic, as well as a particular style they prefer. For new shoppers, this could prove to be frustrating. Additionally, several spelling and grammatical mistakes on the website might be indicative of potential difficulties in communicating with the retailer. However, looking at the hundreds of customer reviews that praise Uniwig's personalized attention, fast shipping, and overall quality, it appears that despite any site flaws, the actual product and customer service are delivering results well.

Uniwig's exchange and return policy is relatively strict: customers may make one exchange on a product and will be charged a handling fee anywhere from 15-30%, and returns also have a restocking fee of 15%. Also, there is a 15-30% cancellation fee after the first 24 hours on orders that haven't shipped, so customers should be absolutely certain of their purchase prior to submitting their order.

Overall, Uniwig's selection and pricing make them a solid choice for wigs, but we hope that their site will add better functionality with respect to sorting through products as well as clearing up the mistakes that detract from the quality wigs they offer.

Milanoo

Cost:

From $9 to $675

Milanoo is a Chinese based company that sells a host of low priced items including wedding dresses, costumes, wigs, holiday supplies and more.

Milanoo offers over 700 wigs in various lengths and colors for shoppers. Most wigs do not come in specific sizes or have color options for that style. The website search functionality is limited. Shoppers may select Cosplay, Costumes and Beauty. As a side note, we felt that many of these wigs were more appropriate for customs and less so for everyday life. In fact, many wigs were displayed next to a cartoon character. That said, most wig shoppers will want to look under the "Beauty" category. Further sub categories available to search through the wigs is limited to price and display. The majority of wigs are synthetic in nature with the more expensive options made of human hair.

In our research we found numerous complaints of quality and customer services issues with the Milanoo products. Milanoo allows 7 days for returns and will only refund money if the product is damaged.

If you're in the market for a really low cost costume wig and are ok with the risk of no easy returns, Milanoo might be a place worth considering. However, with an abundance of customer complaints we recommend you shop a higher ranked wig company with a better track record.

Not all wig retailers are the same. Before shopping for a new wig, you should consider the following factors:

  • Selection. How many wigs does the company offer? Do they sell both human hair wigs and synthetic wigs?
  • Price. Is the pricing for the wigs competitive with other wig retailers? What can you expect to pay for a quality wig?
  • Customer Service. Is the wig store geared towards the customer with a return policy, affordable shipping, and easy website navigation?
