Shades Shutters Blinds

SHADES SHUTTERS BLINDS Visit Site

With headquarters in Colorado, Shades Shutters Blinds has sold thousands of blinds since opening their virtual doors in 2001. Their customer service team offers live phone service during regular business hours, so you can easily reach someone who works right in their office - no outsourcing their calls overseas. You can also get help via email (most are answered in less than 30 minutes) or using their live chat in the bottom right corner of the site.

To start shopping for the window treatments you want, you've got two options: choose from the three main types (yes, that would be Shades, Shutters, or Blinds), or scroll down to the bottom to see specific kinds like Vertical Blinds, Arched Window Shades, or Real Wood Shutters.

Once you've selected the product you want, you can easily change the dimensions by selecting them in the dropdown boxes. You can also scroll through a series of images, showing you close-ups as well as full-room photos to see how the window treatments look when installed. For further guidance, keep scrolling until you see the "How to Measure" link - or simply reach out to the Shades Shutters Blinds customer service team to get the help you need.

Be sure to look through the green tabs towards the bottom of the page. There, you'll find all of the installation options that are available, specifications, and helpful how-to-install instructions (including videos).

Shades Shutters Blinds only sells their in-house brand of blinds, so naturally we couldn't find our "apples to oranges" comparison of the Levolor Visions 2" Faux Wood Blind. But, when we looked at their equivalent blinds, the prices were much cheaper than the brand name - and, better yet, more affordable than other sites that sell in-house brands. You can get a free sample pack of their most popular products; just choose the category you want - shades, shutters, or blinds - and you'll get a complimentary delivery to help you make your choice. You'll also find the option to order samples of specific colors and styles in each product listing, towards the bottom of the page. Just look for the blue "Get Sample" button underneath the color options.

Shipping is free on most orders. If you order blinds that are 94" or wider, plantation shutters, or any other oversized product, expect a fee of $75. Otherwise, you'll get free shipping within the lower 48 United States, or $35 for delivery to Hawaii or Alaska.

If you sign up for the Shades Shutters Blinds email newsletter, you may get a discount offer: when we gave them our info, we received a coupon for 35% off. But, there was already a promotion offering a 30% discount sitewide, so you might be able to save money without joining their mailing list.

Overall, this store has a good reputation: an "A" with the Better Business Bureau and many positive customer reviews. We were glad to see several long-term customers who have ordered from Shades Shutters Blinds many times and been highly satisfied. Like most companies who sell Blinds, this retailer has its share of complaints, but the response from their representatives always seems to be friendly, factual, and fair.

What about returns and warranties? Everything that Shades Shutters Blinds sells comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Within the first 90 days, Shades Shutters Blinds will work with their manufacturers to get your blinds fixed and returned at no charge, if the repair is covered by that warranty. With the few complaints we saw, Shades Shutters Blinds representatives were very proactive in trying to help customers get a satisfactory resolution to their problems, even though some of the issues may not have technically fallen under the product warranty.

Shades Shutters Blinds offers quality blinds and other window treatments, along with solid customer service. Although some customers might prefer a store that allows them to choose among trusted brand names for their blinds, those who are looking for lower-priced alternatives should consider Shades Shutters Blinds.

Just Blinds

JUST BLINDS Visit Site

Just Blinds started as a home-based business in 1999 and has since helped more than one million customers to get blinds, shades, or shutters for their offices and homes. All of the products they sell are their own brand, so you won't find names like Norman or Bali here. But, that also means you'll find lower prices than you'd get when buying name-brand window treatments.

The site is very easy to shop: choose your category of window treatments, then your style, and customize it to meet your preferences. We like how every option is represented with an image, in case you don't understand the difference between Routed and Privacy Slats or Cord Tilt vs. Wand Tilt.

You can order up to 10 free samples to see what Just Blinds' products look like, especially if you're trying to coordinate a particular color to match existing decor. You'll also get a discount coupon with your samples, so it's definitely worth your while.

The site says that they offer free shipping on all orders. But, digging into their actual shipping policies, we found the same exclusions as most retailers of blinds: no shipping of shutters to Hawaii or Alaska, and fees for window treatments of 96" or more. But, Just Blinds' oversized item charge is just $30 per product, much less than many other stores'.

Unfortunately, that's not the only digging you might need to do when shopping with Just Blinds. One problem frequently mentioned by customers is the disclaimer that is only found in the measuring instructions: "Inside Mount Blinds will have a small deduction taken by the factory to fit inside the opening." Numerous people complained that their blinds were often short by as much as a half-inch or more, and that Just Blinds wouldn't fix the problem or offer a refund.

In fact, the only hope of getting any kind of refund or satisfaction guarantee seems to be their upgrade to a "Deluxe Warranty", which offers 30-Day Measure Protection, 30-Day Design Assurance, and a 3-year Breakage Guard. On our order of Faux Wood Blinds, that warranty would cost an extra $12. But, even with that extra warranty, you're limited to a single remake per product.

As you can see, customer experiences with Just Blinds are mixed. The company still has an "A" rating and accreditation with the Better Business Bureau, which is usually a good sign. But, most of the reviews there and elsewhere told a different story: poor responses from customer service, late deliveries, and issues with product quality. Even when the problems seem to be the retailer's fault, customers have had a very hard time getting a response other than "here's a discount on a future order" or "you can always donate them to charity". When you're spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a product, those aren't answers that lead to repeat business.

We like the added warranty options and the simple-to-use website, but when it comes to customer satisfaction, Just Blinds can't compete with the higher-ranked stores we reviewed.

When you order window blinds online, your order is shipped directly to you, and many stores give you the choice to put them up yourself or to pay for professional installation.

As you decide which window blind store you'll use for your purchase, you should keep in mind these criteria:

  • Selection. Does the retailer carry a wide variety of styles, brands, and options? Will you be limited to their in-house blinds, or can you also choose from established name brands? Can you get a sample of different types of blinds that they offer?
  • Price. What will it cost to get the window blinds you want? Will you spend extra for shipping? Are there any discounts available, to make your purchase more affordable?
  • Policies. If you don't like the window blinds once they're delivered, can you return them? Does the store offer a satisfaction guarantee? What happens if the blinds don't fit when you try to install them?
  • Reputation. Have other customers had a good experience with the store, both with using the site to place an order and once they receive their blinds? Does the retailer have a solid history, especially when it comes to resolving customer concerns?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Window Blinds stores available today. We hope this information helps you find the window blinds you want right away!
