If the thought of measuring, selecting, and installing your own window blinds makes you nervous, you may want to consider 3 Day Blinds. They offer custom window treatments through their complimentary in-home design consultation, bringing you a "virtual showroom" with the most up-to-date patterns, fabrics, and styles. Once your designer has helped you choose your window blinds, 3 Day Blinds provides professional installation of your order.
3 Day Blinds only carries a total of three brands - Somfy, Norman, and their own name brand - and pricing is not cheap. Customers will appreciate 3 Day Blind's Standard Product Warranty. This covers cords and ladders for 7 years; fabrics, motors, and remote controls for 5 years; and installation for 1 year.
The 3 Day Blinds website indicates a high degree of customer satisfaction, and an A+ rating as an accredited company with the Better Business Bureau is another plus. On the other hand, we found a surprising number of customer reviews indicating several frequent problems. These include long waits for delivery (sometimes a month or more), poor communication between the in-home consultant and the installer leading to unsuitable placement of the window blinds, and concerns with product quality given the amount of money spent. This may have more to do with the skill of the in-home consultant and/or installer rather than the company itself, and there's no way to know in advance if the professionals sent to your home will do a good job.
Although we have concerns because of the numerous issues with installation and quality, 3 Day Blinds is worth consideration if you'd prefer not to take your own measurements and put up your own window blinds.
Blinds Express is the window coverings division of Window Flair Inc, a New York based company that has specialized in retail window coverings, carpet, and flooring for 43 years. The website is a little more cluttered and harder to maneuver than some of the other companies reviewed.
When searching their inventory, you initially get lists of options without pictures, which makes the search process less user-friendly and more cumbersome. Once you click on the specific window covering you want, you must scroll down to the bottom of the page to see a price. The prices are competitive.
Like many of the other companies reviewed Blinds Express gives details instructions on how to measure your windows to select the correct window covering for your needs. They also offer an extensive list of pre-screened professionals to help you find a local installer if you want to hire out the installation. The list in alphabetical order by installer and not by state, though, making it difficult to find one near you.
Shipping is included in the price that is quoted and there is no sales tax as long as you are shipping outside of New York. Some free samples are offered, check the website to find out which brands you can get samples from.
Blinds Express ranked low on our review mostly due to the poorly organized website and difficulty finding information. We would suggest one of the higher ranked companies as a better place to look for your window covering needs.
